Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the archenemy of all Jews, had schemed to destroy all Jews. He had cast the pur (the lot) to throw them into a panic and destroy them. But when Queen Esther intervened with the king, he gave written orders that the evil scheme that Haman had worked out should BOOMERANG back on his own head. He and his sons were hanged on the gallows.
Esther 9:24-25 MSG
God's people were facing a crisis of annihilation. But the unseen yet unstoppable Hand of God had already prepared Queen Esther in the strategic place at that appointed time who used her ordained position of royalty to intervene for her people. Haman's wicked scheme which he had devised against the Jews backfired and instead he and his sons were hanged on the gallows.
It was not the only time God's people were in a crisis. While rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, the Jews faced opposition and taunts from their enemies :
“What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble—burned as they are? What they are building—even a fox climbing up on it would break down their wall of stones!"
In response to the taunts and insults, Nehemiah used his powerful weapon of prayer :
“Hear us, our God, for we are despised. Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of captivity.
Nehemiah 4:4
Not only did God grant them success - the wall was completed in fifty-two days - God caused their enemies to lose their nerve. Nehemiah recorded , "...all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God. (Nehemiah 6:16)
Our God reigns! Senior Pastor of Vision Church, Jane Hamon, writes that God is going to cause every curse and every assignment from hell to be turned right back upon the head of our spiritual enemy! Amen!
Be encouraged, beloved brothers and sisters. Our boomerang-God acts on our behalf. Like Nehemiah, let us learn to wield the weapon of prayer.
