Let The Drama of Kairos Unfold!

Writer: Lay LengLay Leng

Kairos is a Greek word which means opportune time when God has appointed for His purposes to be activated. In Mark 1:14-15, after John, the voice preparing the way for the LORD, was put in prison, Jesus said the kairos is fulfilled. The appointed time has come. But for what?

After John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee and told the good news that comes from God. He said, “The time has come! God's kingdom will soon be here. Turn back to God and believe the good news!” Mark‬ ‭1:14-15‬ ‭

The time has come for turning and returning to the King who can turn things around for us! God’s kairos intervention leads to restoration. This is powerfully seen in a Shunammite woman’s life!

Gehazi, Elisha’s servant, was telling the king about the time Elisha had brought a boy back to life. At That Very Moment, the mother of the boy walked in to make her appeal to the king about her house and land. “Look, my lord the king!” Gehazi exclaimed. “Here is the woman now, and this is her son—the very one Elisha brought back to life!” (see 2 Kings 8:5)

At That Very Moment, the woman walked in to appeal about her house and her land. She had gone to a foreign land , due to famine in her land, as Elsha, the man of God had instructed. She and her family remained in the foreign land for seven years, not any shorter nor any longer. The prophet's words came to pass. The famine ended. She went back to her homeland. The king wanted to know her story and after hearing it, he instructed, “Make sure she gets EVERYTHING back that’s hers, PLUS all profits from the farm from the time she left until now.”

God intervenes at the opportune or appointed or favourable time - the kairos moment - when our faith and obedience will result in restoration plus plus! Trust and obey Him and let the drama of kairos unfold!
